About the role
This is a hands-on drafting role for someone who takes pride in accurate, well-presented piping drawings. As part of the piping team, you'll prepare and revise the full set of piping deliverables in AutoCAD — working from GA drawings, 3D model extracts and engineering mark-ups — and keep everything under proper revision control and to project drafting standards.
It's a hands-on role with real delivery pressure, working closely with the piping engineer and other disciplines to resolve drawing inconsistencies and keep the work moving.
What you'll do
- Prepare piping general arrangement (GA) drawings, plans, sections and elevations using AutoCAD.
- Prepare and revise piping isometric drawings from GA drawings, 3D model extracts or engineering mark-ups.
- Prepare equipment layouts, plot plans and pipe-support drawings based on inputs from the piping engineer.
- Generate Bills of Material (BOM) and assist with Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from isometric drawings.
- Incorporate client, consultant and internal review comments promptly and maintain proper revision control.
- Ensure drawings conform to project drafting standards, title blocks, layering conventions and symbol libraries.
- Coordinate with piping engineers and other disciplines — mechanical, civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation — to resolve drawing inconsistencies.
- Prepare as-built drawings based on site mark-ups where required.
What we're looking for
- A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or ITI (Draughtsman – Mechanical).
- 5 years of experience in piping drafting, preferably on EPC or process-plant projects.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for piping drawings.
- A good understanding of pipe fittings, flanges, valves, piping symbols and isometric conventions.
- Working knowledge of relevant ASME piping standards.
- High accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Good coordination and communication skills, and basic proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
Nice to have
- Exposure to 3D tools such as AVEVA PDMS/E3D, Hexagon Smart 3D (SP3D) or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Experience across both brownfield and greenfield projects.
